Getting Dressed Again and Labor Day Sales

Have you stood in your closet praying your favorite jeans will fit? Hoping the white jeans will be comfortable? (It's still summer and anyway, we wear white jeans all the time now.) Are you ready to put on something besides athleisure after months of living in a Covid world? I don't think you are alone. After all this time away from our regular routines, many women's bodies have changed.Have you heard the expression "the Covid15"? Sure a lot of people got a Peloton or other equipment and subscribed to online exercise programs, streamed local classes and weather -permitting, walked and biked outside often. But still, we were home a lot more than usual, cooking more, baking more and snacking more. Some of us are facing the challenges of menopause and undeniable shifts in our body weight ( suddenly larger breasts and no more tush) as well.

Those going back to the workplace or meetings or even lunch, after months in sweats or cute tops -no bottoms needed- for zoom calls, might feel annoyed or even angry with the reality of getting back into real clothes with a wardrobe that no longer fits. Designers and retailers feel your pain. There is a new category of clothing to meet this need- comfortable, forgiving yet polished- a work-leisure combo. Here's a few suggestions to look good while working on getting back into pre-Covid clothes.

This Allison pant ($68) by Marine Layer is made of tencel, hemp and a bit of spandex with an elastic waist and straight legs. They look structured yet say they feel like the softest bed sheets. Check out Marine Layer's cool site of high quality and sustainable clothes

Athleta's Brooklyn ($89) Textured Ankle
pant is excellent for an updated look- comfortable  (with gentle compression),lightweight and versatile. They are sustainable also. Made of polyester from recycled plastic bottles

A sleek, straight, slim fit with a pressed crease is always a polished look. No waistband and semi-fitted cut makes it comfortable, too. The slits at the hem are cute. Etcetera's Icon in navy and Hollywood in black ($198) are great basics to add to your wardrobe.

Etcetera's French Terry jumpsuit ($399) makes getting dressed easy- one piece, no fuss. Casual yet polished. An easy fit in cotton and poly with a tough of spandex. Dress it up or down with heels or sneakers. Right on trend.

Eileen Fisher, Soft Surroundings and even Amazon are all good places to check out for looks to transition back from staying home to going out again and are forgiving of changes in your figure :)
